Summit aims to give a well-rounded support system including access to fitness, social opportunities, as well as the gaining of important life skills.
Giving back to the local community is also an element that is important to instill a sense of responsibility and community inclusion.
Summit’s main focus is the work surrounding independence skills and working with individuals, and their families, to maximise their potential. This work includes aspects such as independent travel, budgeting, cooking, fitness as well as key life skills such as ordering at restaurants - to name just a few!
Giving back to the community is a message Summit places great importance on. Identifying local initiatives and projects enables us to become part of the local community and teach the values of helping others. Such projects have included local litter picks and raising money for the mental health charity ‘Mind’.
Social skills are an area that is particularly difficult for many of our students and therefore it is essential we create ample opportunities for these to be experienced. This is done through organising trips to participate in group activities, sourcing work experience and supporting individuals to access clubs or groups of interest.
